SHORT BIOSumanta Chakraborty is currently a permanent faculty member at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS) at the post of Faculty Fellow. He has earlier worked as a Research Associate and as a National Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science (IACS). Subsequently he joined the same institute as a INSPIRE Faculty. He has received his Ph.D. degree on 23rd February, 2017 from Jawaharlal Nehru University for his research work at Inter-University Centre for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) as a Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Fellow. Essay written by him has received honourable mention in the gravity essay competition, 2016 organized by the Gravity Research Foundation, USA. A research article written by him has been selected as Editor's choice in a reputed international journal. Throughout school, college and university he has won numerous prizes and scholarships. He has received most prestigious fellowships in India throughout his career --- (a) The Shyama Prasad Mukherjee (SPM) Fellowship for securing first rank among all the students in the country, in the CSIR NET examination for Physical Sciences; (b) The Satyendra Nath Bose Memorial Prize, for securing first rank in the University of Calcutta in M.Sc. Physics; (c) Received the KVPY fellowship and the INSPIRE fellowship. His doctoral work has own him V.V. Narlikar Best Thesis Award from IAGRG, India. As an international recognition, his doctoral work has received honourable mention by the Italian Society for Relativity and Gravitational Physics, Italy. He has also received INFN fellowship as well as SERB National Post Doctoral Fellowship. He has received INSPIRE Faculty Award from Department of Science and Technology, Government of India. His work work was featured by Government of India in a press release. He has guided four M.Sc. students in their project and he has two post doctoral fellows working with him. He has also published seventy one research papers and one invited review article in refereed international journals. His thesis has been published by Springer in its series Springer Thesis.
